Alicanto Minerals (AQI) has hit chalcopyrite copper at the Heden East target within the Greater Falun copper-gold project in Sweden.

Greater Falun lies within the Bergslagen region which has produced more than 100 million tonnes of high-grade base and precious metals in its 1000-year lifetime.

This drilling program was designed to explore a three kilometre-long trend of limestone with zoned skarn alteration and associated chalcopyrite.

Historical work at Heden East identified copper near surface as well as minor garnet and dispersed chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite mineralisation.

Additionally, up to 3.1 per cent copper was intersected in historical workings.

Recent drilling has intersected 2.85 metres of massive pyroxene skarn with chalcopyrite and pyrrhotite, including 1.02 metres of 5 per cent to 10 per cent sulphide from 69.95 metres.

These results are encouraging because they reveal the presence of high-grade copper and provide proof of concept regarding Alicanto’s exploration strategy at Greater Falun.

“This is an outstanding result and means we have hit visible chalcopyrite copper at the first two targets we have drilled at Great Falun in this current campaign,” Managing Director Peter George stated.

“The pieces of the puzzle are coming together well and we now have the best possible indicators to allow us to close in on the proximal part of the copper-gold skarn at Heden,” he added.

The drill rig is now moving 400 metres west, closer to the copper-gold skarn and coinciding with the magnetic anomalies recently identified.

Alicanto is up 7.14 per cent on the market and shares are trading for 15 cents at 12:37 pm AEDT.
