Kleos Space S.A (KSS) has set a date for the Kleos Polar Vigilance Mission to launch from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
Kleos aims to support governments and businesses in their efforts to guard borders, save lives and protect assets by delivering global activity-based intelligence and geolocation data. The data-as-a-service space-powered radio frequency reconnaissance company received confirmation to launch its mission on June 25, with the Spaceflight SXRS-5/SpaceX Transporter-2 on board.
The four satellites will be deployed into a 525-kilometre sun synchronous orbit that the company believes will increase Kleos’s overall coverage density. The orbit will cover areas both north and south of the Kleos Scouting Mission satellites, which were launched in November into a 37-degree inclined orbit.
Kleos will use the clusters of four satellites to collect radio transmissions over key areas of interest around the globe.
After processing, a geospatial data product will be delivered to analytics and intelligence entities for government and commercial use. This is said to be able to uncover the locations of human activity across both land and sea.
“This launch is yet another key milestone for us, growing our data collection constellation and ultimately our product inventory,” Kleos CEO Andy Bowyer said.
A third cluster of satellites, the Polar Patrol Mission (KSF2), is scheduled to launch at the end of this year.
Kleos was up 2.13 per cent, trading at 96 cents at 12:36 pm AEST.
