1414 Degrees (14D) has been granted a variation to its existing development approval for its Aurora Energy Project.

The company is developing a hybrid power plant with long-duration storage output near Port Augusta.

The new variation allows the addition of a 140 to 280 megawatts hour battery energy storage system (BESS), thermal energy storage and a 33,000-volt transmission line grid connection.

Also included in the variation is a modified site layout plan and project staging.

The approval has come from the South Australian Minister for Planning and Local Government.

Aurora Energy Project will be constructed in a series of stages. The BESS will unlock the potential for future solar installation and provide security and support to the electricity network supporting Port Augusta.

The development approval is a key milestone in the advancement of the renewable energy project.

“1414 Degrees will continue to work with all regional stakeholders including the Barngala Determination Aboriginal Corporation, pastoral leaseholders and council to unlock the
renewable energy potential in the area,” the company said.

“We are now looking to accelerate the Aurora Energy Project including potentially bringing in a partner to participate in and co-invest in the final development activities such as equipment selection and transmission studies.”

On market close for the day, 1414 Degrees was up eight per cent and is trading at 13.5 cents per share.
