R3D Resources (R3D) will commence drilling at key copper and zinc targets in the Chillagoe Region in Far North Queensland.

The company is expecting the drill rig to arrive on the Tartana Leases today, allowing the drilling to start tomorrow.

In a recent announcement, the company noted historical drilling in the Queen grade zinc mineralisation has been to a depth of 130 metres despite previous drilling reporting encouraging intersections that intersected 33 metres at 12 per cent zinc.

The upcoming drilling program will be testing this zinc mineralisation as well as a new copper target that was found through geophysical surveys.

“We are looking forward to this drilling program as the last drilling that was conducted on the Queen Grade zinc mineralisation was more than a decade ago with the project having a low priority to the previous owners at that time,” Managing Director Stephen Bartrop said.

“Elsewhere, the copper target is within an area that has never been tested despite being closer to multiple areas of zinc skarn mineralisation and the Palmerville fault zone.”

On the market this afternoon, R3D shares were in the grey and trading at 11.5 cents on 3:53 pm AEST.
