Construction is underway at the Corio Bay Dairy Group project which will see the formation of Australia’s first organic milk spray dryer. The establishment is expected to produce 200,000 litres of organic milk each day, and 10,000 tonnes of powdered milk formula a year.

Over $55 million has been committed to the joint venture by Wattle Health, Niche Dairy and The Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia. The project is expected to help expand the business’ reach of organic milk products to an international market.

Steel works are currently being installed for the dryer and evaporator buildings. Once the steel works are completed the concrete foundations for the first two levels will be laid.

The project updates suggest in the coming weeks concrete panels in the dryer and evaporator building will commence. With the first shipment of equipment set to arrive late July this year. Upon completion the project will be 28 stories tall.

The Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia have entered an exclusive agreement with the Corio Bay Dairy Group to supply “fresh organic milk”. When the operation is running, the companies said it will be the largest supplier of organic milk nation wide.

The Organic Dairy Farmers are certified organic and don’t use synthetic or artificial pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers or GMOs. Their cows are fed from GMO free pasture.

Wattle Health has secured an exclusive supply of products from Corio Bay which they are able to add to its nutritional fair range.

The Organic Dairy Famers have a 50 per cent interest in the Corio Bay Dairy Group, while Wattle Health have a 45 per cent interest and Niche dairy hold a five per cent interest.

The first lot of production is expected by the end of the year.
