Restaurant artificial intelligence (AI) specialist Dragontail Systems (DTS) is teaming up with Fortune 500 company YUM! to provide its Dragontail Algo technology.

Algo is an AI-based food optimisation platform. The tech connects all parts of a restaurant — from kitchen management, to food quality control, to delivery optimisation — to help kitchens flow more smoothly and efficiently.

Dragontail will deploy the Algo technology across Telepizza Group Pizza Hut stores. While YUM! owns the Pizza Hut brand, Telepizza is the largest Pizza Hut franchisee in the world.

The company has over 2500 Pizza Hut stores, located mostly in Latin America and Europe.

Dragontail is currently testing the Algo platform in two stores in Ecuador. The company said once this testing phase is complete, however, it will be ready to install Algo in 943 Telepizza Pizza Hut stores across Latin America.

YUM! Senior IT Manager Jose Gasca said the company is looking forward to implementing the Algo tech across its key markets.

“We are very pleased with the quick integration and implementation of the Algo system so far and excited about the installation of the Algo platform in our first stores, which will be a showcase for its capabilities in our stores,” Jose said.

Along with Pizza Hut, YUM! controls other big fast-food names like KFC, Taco Bell, and WingStreet.

Dragontail Managing Director Ido Levanon said by teaming up with YUM!, the company can support the fast-food giant’s hunger for detail and accurate preparation.

“The Algo will complement those elements by maximizing efficiency and accuracy in the food preparation, kitchen function and delivery processes that will be performed in the best possible way,” Ido touted.

Following today’s announcement, Dragontail shares have gained 20 per cent. Currently, shares are trading for 12 cents each in a $29.87 million market cap.
