RareX (REE) has outlined a plan of action for its Cummins Range Project for when travel restrictions ease in Western Australia.

The rare earths project is located in the Pilbara region of WA and is approximately 130 kilometres southwest of Halls Creek.

In March, the state government carved up Western Australia into regions and put a ban on travel between them to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On May 18, some of the intra-state borders were removed and the premier indicated that those remaining could be dismantled four weeks later.

Cummins Range Rare Earths Project

RareX is anticipating it will be able to commence a 6000-metres reverse circulation drilling program at Cummins Range in July. This was initially planned for April, however, it was delayed by pandemic conditions.

The drilling program will have four objectives, the first of which is to grow the existing JORC Resource both along strike and depth. RareX is also aiming to convert a portion of the inferred category resource to indicated status.

The company will also collect samples for metallurgical testwork and finally, the drilling program will target additional discoveries outside of the existing Resource.

To date the majority of drilling completed outside of the Resource area has been shallow air-core drilling and did not test the depth of weathered channels.

Lachlan Fold Belt

Meanwhile, at the company’s Trundle Copper-Gold Project in New South Wales, the second diamond drill hole of a six-hole program is underway. The first hole has already been completed and assay results are pending.

This program is testing for potential new high-grade porphyry and skarn copper-gold discoveries.

RareX is trading 10.8 per cent higher and shares are selling for 4.1 cents each at 1:30 pm AEST.
