Auteco Minerals (AUT) has begun its maiden diamond drilling program at the Pickle Crow Gold Project in Canada.

The aim of this program is to target shallow high-grade gold targets that were identified during recent technical work.

Pickle Crow is located in Ontario, Canada and is one of the country’s highest-grade historical gold mines.

The mine ran from 1935 to 1966 and produced 1.5 million ounces of gold at an average grade of 16g/t. Since then, very little modern exploration has been undertaken.

This 5000-metre diamond drilling program will be the first systematic exploration completed at Pickle Crow in more than 50 years.

This gives Auteco a unique opportunity to unlock the potential of one of Canada’s high-grade gold mines.

“I’m delighted to announce that Auteco’s maiden 5000-metre diamond drill program has commenced at the high-grade Pickle Crow Gold Project in Ontario,” Executive Chairman Ray Shorrocks commented.

“Exploration activities are proceeding in line with 2020 field objectives with maiden drilling targeting high-grade, walk-up drill targets designed to bring new resource areas into JORC compliance,” he said.

“In addition, Auteco is working to deliver a maiden JORC 2012 compliant resource for the Pickle Crow Gold mine area. This resource will be focused on the high-grade underground mineable mineralisation at the Pickle Crow deposit that was the focus of profitable mining from 1935 to 1966,” he added.

Auteco is down a slight 1.75 per cent on the market and shares are trading for 5.6 cents each at 1:43 pm AEST.
