Australian Bauxite’s (ABX) next shipment of bauxite is ready to depart from Tasmania ahead of schedule.

The company will ship 35,000 tonnes of cement grade bauxite from its Bald Hill mine on August 8. Accordingly, trucks will take the bauxite to the ships over the next few days.

ABX is known for producing bauxite for cement and fertiliser manufactures. The company has been lucky to be able to continue throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and secured contracts for over $2.5 million.

The company fast-tracked the project so it would have access to transport and port infrastructure during a time of under-utilisation and low fuel prices — meaning cement-grade customers can benefit from shipping opportunities.

“ABx has long-standing relationships with experienced contractors that are well known for meeting the strict specification targets and complying with community and landholder requirements,” the company said.

Mining and processing at Bald Hill were completed by Hazell Bros contractors, while the transport to Bell Bay port will be overseen by Dave Wagner & Son.

On market close, ABX remains steady and is trading for 10 cents per share.
