Astro Resources (ARO) has upgraded the inferred resources at its Governor Broome heavy mineral sands project in WA.

Resource upgrade

Upgrades to indicated resources at the East and South deposits, together with recent drilling results and independent studies, necessitated the changes to the inferred resource estimates.

The South deposit contains an inferred resource of 2.5 million tonnes at 4.5 per cent heavy minerals, 15 per cent slimes, and 9 per cent oversize.

The East deposit contains four million tonnes at three per cent heavy minerals, 13 per cent slimes, and three per cent oversize.

Total indicated and inferred resources for Governor Broome are listed below.

Next steps

With the exception of two holes drilled this year, the inferred resource estimates for both the East and South deposits are derived from historical aircore drilling by Metal Sands Australia in 2006.

While the grades returned are broadly consistent across individual prospect areas, the drilling was not of sufficient density to guarantee the grade continuity required for an upgrade to indicated resources.

Astro will keep the market updated as further informaqtion comes to light.

Astro Resources closed Tuesday’s session 20 per cent higher at 0.6 cents per share.
