Gold explorer Troy Resources (TRY) has reported a minor fire in the storage area of the Karouni mine site in Guyana, South America.

The stores operate as a storage area which house all the spare parts and non-hazard consumables for the mine site.

The fire was reported at 6:30 pm on Sunday, September 13 (Guyana time) and luckily no one has been injured.

Due to the site-based emergency response team’s rapid response time, the fire was contained and didn’t spread to other parts of the mine site.

At this stage, the company believes the fire was started by an electrical fault, however, investigations are ongoing.

Troy is not expecting production to be impacted by the fire. However, the ability to source spare parts in time may impact production later on.

The company will keep the market informed when further information becomes available.

Earlier this month, Troy restarted exploration drilling at the Karouni Project. The company is aiming to drill three to four diamond holes to upgrade the mineral reserve estimate by quarter four.

Troy ended the day in the grey, to trade for 10.5 cents.
