Aurora Labs (A3D) has been granted a patent in Japan for a key part of its Multi-Layer Concurrent Printing (MCP) technology.

The company said Japan represents a key jurisdiction, due to its adoption of additive printing and its major manufacturing sector.

CEO Peter Snowsill explained securing intellectual property protection is an important part of the company’s development pathway.

“The granting of this core patent in another significant jurisdiction is an important step in securing out MCP technology, as protection of our intellectual property is foundational to our technology development pathway and commercialisation strategy.”

It follows a similar grant for the MCP technology in China in September this year.

Aurora Labs has several other patents applications pending, including in Australia and the United States.

Shares last traded for 7.8 cents.
