- Andromeda Metals (ADN) has been buoyed by further positive results from testing the different uses of its halloysite-kaolin and high purity kaolin
- The company tested its halloysite-kaolin from its Great White Project on a number of different concrete application mix designs
- The testing comes as Andromeda awaits an Australian Concrete Standards Certification, which should be issued later this month
- Andromeda also sent its high purity kaolin from Great White and Mount Hope to Europe to be tested
- It found the product has excellent potential if it’s used in the high-value coatings and polymer markets
- Shares in ADN are trading up 11.4 per cent at 19.5 cents each
Andromeda Metals (ADN) has been buoyed by positive results from further testing of its halloysite-kaolin and high purity kaolin in different uses.
Concrete
The developer has been testing its halloysite-kaolin, sourced directly from its Great White Project, on a number of different concrete application mix designs.
The company said the results were “very positive” and it will continue testing while it awaits its official Australian Concrete Standards Certification, which should arrive later this month.
These applications include self-consolidating concrete, shotcrete, pool mix and deep foundation pilings.
Speaking on the wider concrete industry, ADN said in today’s update that the “industry represents a new and very significant domestic and global market opportunity for halloysite-kaolin.”
The developer also stated that it “potentially represents a much higher value to
Andromeda than other applications.”
Coatings
In addition to the concrete mix design testing, Andromeda also sent its high purity kaolin from Great White and Mount Hope to Europe to be tested.
The results from the tests indicate the product has excellent potential in high-value coatings and polymer markets, where commercial kaolin products can be sold for around $1000 per tonne.
Meantime, the samples from Great White are now being tested as feed for High Purity Alumina (HPA) production due to their incredibly low level of impurities.
Going forward, Andromeda said it plans to select suitable potential customers to sample larger quantities, which will be produced via the pilot plant at Streaky Bay.
ADN is currently recommissioning the plant to replicate the feasibility plant processing facility in order to produce Great White products.
Shares in ADN are currently trading up 11.4 per cent at 19.5 cents each at 12:18 pm AEDT.
