Nexus Minerals (NXM) has confirmed a broad new gold zone at its Wallbrook Project, situated between Kalgoorlie and Laverton in WA.

Broad zone

The company drilled over 2700 metres across 35 reverse circulation (RC) holes at the Branches prospect, checking for shallow mineralisation.

Nexus wasn’t disappointed, with every hole returning at least some gold mineralisation.

The results indicate a mineralised zone stretching over 400 metres along strike, with further exploration potential in every direction.

Drilling at the northern end of the zone returned the highest-grade and widest intersections, indicating what could be an even richer and as-yet untested zone outside the bounds of the recent program.

The deepest drilling only tested the zone to a depth of around 125 metres, so there also remains considerable exploration upside at depth.

Nexus Managing Director Andy Tudor says the company’s hard work is paying off at Wallbrook.

“These first pass results from the Branches prospect have intersected broad and high-grade gold intercepts showing continuity of mineralisation over greater than 400 metres strike which remains open in all directions,” Andy began.

“These exceptional results have outlined an extensive mineralised system centred on the mineralised porphyry unit,” he added.

“It is very encouraging that after a couple of years of ground-based geological exploration activities, we are able to drill test our theories and receive such strong drill results.”

Next steps

The company is now planning follow-up diamond and RC drilling at Wallbrook to confirm the recent results.

With potential to expand the known gold zone in every direction, there remains considerable upside at the Branches prospect.

The company has drilled similar programs across three other prospects at Wallbrook — the Templar, Golden Dyke and Crusader prospects.

Results from Templar indicate a similar mineralised system to that emerging at Branches, with a 700-metre mineralised corridor open in all directions.

Results are still pending from the Golden Dyke and Crusader programs.

The company will be hoping 13 holes drilled at Golden Dyke will return similarly high grades to the three metres at 19.36 grams per tonne (g/t) gold found in 2018.

The deeper drilling at the Crusader prospect — below the existing 85,000-ounce mineral resource — is aimed at extending the resource envelope.

Assays are pending for both programs, but results will be used to plan the next phases of drilling across the Wallbrook project.
