Trigg Mining (TMG) has begun an aircore (AC) drilling program at its Lake Throssell Sulphate of Potash (SOP) Project.

The Lake Throssell Project lies roughly 170 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia and covers an area of 868 square kilometres.

Up to 38 aircore holes will be drilled to test the basal aquifer which is believed to lie 130 metres below surface in the deepest part of the palaeovalley.

This palaeovalley is believed to measure up to two kilometres in width and 46 kilometres in length.

Basal aquifers are bodies of saturated rocks and sediments through which water can flow — they provide 99 per cent of groundwater.

These AC holes will be the first ever holes to be drilled to depth at Lake Throssell.

“We are very excited to be drilling the basal aquifer at Lake Throssell, which has been the company’s primary focus since acquiring the SOP projects and listing on the ASX on October last year,” Managing Director Keren Paterson said.

“The results of this program are expected to provide sufficient detail to calculate an inferred mineral resource estimate for Lake Throssell, which will be the second mineral resource estimate for the company since listing,” she added.

Trigg has ended the day 10.3 per cent in the green with shares trading at 16 cents in an $11.6 million market cap.
