Deep drilling at New World Resources’ (NWC) Antler copper project in Arizona has turned up some of the strongest results to date.

The company is drilling for sulphide mineralisation down-dip from historical workings at the project to check the interpreted thick, high-grade shoot below.

So far, the company hasn’t been disappointed, with results seeming to get better as the the drilling goes deeper.

Strong results

A step-out diamond hole was drilled to check the continuity of mineralisation detected in other recent drilling.

The drilling intersected three high-grade intervals totalling around 28 metres between depths of 450 to 490 metres.

Each successive intersection returned progressively higher grades as they got deeper underground.

Remarkably, the mineralisation remains open at depth, providing even further upside.

A second recent hole is still awaiting assay, but preliminary indications of an 18-metre-thick heavily mineralised interval hint at more of the same high-grade mineralisation at depth.

Widths and grades of individual elements vary across the sulphide zones. The best intercept had a copper equivalent grade of 6.5 per cent.

Individual element assays broke down into some impressive numbers, peaking at 4.35 per cent copper, 5.82 per cent zinc, 3.02 per cent lead, over 130 grams per tonne (g/t) silver and up to 0.7g/t gold.

Assays for the second hole are expected in coming weeks.

New World Managing Director Michael Haynes says things just keep getting better at Antler.

“The ongoing drilling at Antler continues to both deliver outstanding assay results and intersect thick new zones of mineralisation as we step-out and move progressively further down-dip,” Michael said.

“Our most recent assays have confirmed more than 28 metres of high-grade mineralisation in one hole, with more than 18 metres of strongly mineralised material also intersected in our most recently completed follow-up hole, with assays pending,” he continued.

“These are two of our deepest holes to date – and the mineralisation seems to be getting better and better with depth. This gives us confidence that, as we continue to drill, we will continue to discover more mineralisation,” the MD added.

Next steps

Drilling is ongoing — including across the Thanksgiving period — and more assays are expected to be returned in coming weeks and months.

Drilling will be accelerated after Thanksgiving, with a second diamond rig to arrive on site.

The company plans to continue targeting depth extensions to the interpreted high-grade shoot.

NWC will also probe poorly explored strike extensions of the Antler deposit —particularly to the south — where strong induced polarisation and magnetic anomalies coincide with outcropping mineralisation across more than 750 metres of strike.

The company believes there is considerable potential to add to the resource base with further exploration drilling.

New World Resources is up 1.96 per cent to 5.2 cents at 3:00 pm AEDT.
