Veris (VRS) subsidiary Aqura Technologies has been awarded a $1.1 million contract from Fortescue Metals Group (FMG).

The company’s wholly owned subsidiary is a provider of communications solutions. Under this new contract, Aqura will upgrade the network at Fortescue’s Kangi Accommodation Village.

The FMG Kangi Village consists of 1850 rooms, situated at Mount Sheila in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

Aqura will design and deliver physical upgrades to the site’s advanced fibre optic network. The enhancements to the pre-existing infrastructure will result in a robust platform that reliably delivers entertainment services and wellbeing programs to the large fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) workforce living onsite.

Aqura has previously delivered similar Content Access Network solutions for other clients in the Australian mining industry. These include ASX-listers like BHP Group (BHP) and Oz Minerals (OZL), as well as others like Newmont and Abra Mining.

Aqura Technologies’ CEO, Travis Young, said the company’s in-house team is pleased to provide a high-quality foundation for Fortescue’s Kangi Village network.

“The contract award is testament to the strong quality and safety record of Aqura in the design and delivery of high-quality network infrastructure,” he said.

“We are very mindful of the benefits of this type of investment which fundamentally supports and enhances the positive wellbeing for FIFO staff who are away from home for extended periods and need reliable infrastructure to support connections to family and friends,” he added.

Aqura Technologies has already begun work on the design phase of the contract, and expects to complete the works by July this year.

Veris is in the grey and trading at 8.5 cents per share at 10:50 am AEDT.
