Emu (EMU) has wrapped up the field component of the first-pass auger geochemistry sampling programme at its Viper project.

The project is located near Jerramungup in the Wheatbelt region of WA.

The survey represents the first systematic geochemical sampling programme conducted across the historical Netty Copper Mine and surrounding area.

The Netty Copper Mine reportedly produced more than three tonnes of contained copper from 30.5 tonnes of oxide and sulphide ore. The auger sampling lines were
completed over a 3.6-kilometre strike extension of the host Netty Proterozoic mafic dyke.

The company says the samples identified a significant aerial extent of surface copper oxide mineralisation that occurs as malachite associated with the host granite and intrusive mafic lithologies.

The soil sampling programme was undertaken by Sahara Operations utilising an auger rig capable of drilling holes up to 30 metres in depth.

During the survey, rock and chip samples were also collected for laboratory examination and assessment.

The company says its priority now is to follow up the auger geochemistry with infill geochemistry, mapping and geophysics to identify targets for a potential future drilling campaign.

Emu is trading in the green, up 1.69 per cent for six cents a piece at 2:54 pm AEDT.
