Senex Energy (SXY) has signed a new gas sales agreement with CleanCo Queensland.
CleanCo is a Queensland government-owned corporation focused on delivering affordable and reliable clean energy.
The further domestic gas sales agreement between Senex and power generator CleanCo Queensland is for 2.55 petajoules of natural gas, starting on January 1, 2022, for the duration of the year.
The agreements bring Senex’s total contracted volumes with CleanCo to more than 5.1 petajoules over the 2020-22 calendar years. Gas will be supplied at the Wullumbilla Gas Hub in Queensland at a fixed price in line with current market levels.
Senex’s natural gas currently fuels Swanbank E, CleanCo’s gas-fired power station near Ipswitch in south-east Queensland, which plays a key role in the stability of Queensland’s electricity network, and allows CleanCo to offer low-emissions, reliable power to customers.
“Senex will continue to build a portfolio of gas sales agreements that support jobs and regional economies as we partner with commercial and industrial customers for long-term and mutually beneficial relationships,” said Senex Managing Director and CEO Ian Davies.
“The strong ongoing relationship between Senex and CleanCo contributes to security of power supply that helps the recovery of the Queensland and Australian economies.”
Senex Energy is down 1.3 per cent, trading at 38 cents at 11:00 am AEDT.
