Mineral exploration company Metal Hawk (MHK) has begun stage two aircore (AC) drilling at the Kanowna East Project.

The company’s flagship Kanowna East Project is located not too far away from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. It sits only eight kilometres northeast of Northern Star’s (NST) Kanowna Belle gold mine.

Metal Hawk began its first stage of AC drilling at Kanowna East in early March, 2021, which it completed with a track-mounted rig later in the same month.

The stage two follow-up drilling program which just started will consist of 100 AC holes, for 10,000 metres of drilling. During the program, Metal Hawk will test a priority structural target area, extending north of the project’s Little Lake prospect.

Recent AC drilling at the Little Lake prospect outlined a broad zone of strong gold anomalism, beneath the extensive lake clays.

Metal Hawk’s Managing Director, Will Belbin, commented on the company’s plans for the Kanowna East Project.

“As well as drill-testing an unexplored 2.5-kilometre target structural corridor for new zones of mineralisation, this phase of drilling will look to expand the extensive zone of gold anomalism at the Little Lake prospect,” he said.

“Following this program, we plan to commence deeper reverse circulation drilling in order to determine the bedrock-source of gold anomalism,” he added.

The company expects to receive final assay results from the stage one AC drilling program shortly, and will report them in due course.

Metal Hawk is up 8.16 per cent, trading at 26 cents per share at 3:57 pm AEST.
