Archer Materials (AXE) has signed a new quantum computing agreement with International Business Machines Corporation.

The new agreement will see Archer and International Business Machines Corporation, more commonly known as IBM, continue to work together on the advancement of quantum computing, with the focus on Archer’s world-first qubit processor technology, the CQ chip.

Archer is one of the first Australian companies developing quantum computing technology to have joined the invitation-only IBM Quantum Network.

As part of the new agreement, Archer will retain membership to the global network and the associated IBM Quantum Startup Program. Archer will also have the opportunity to progress work initiated under the previous agreement from March 2020.

Archer will continue to have access to IBM’s quantum computing expertise and resources, plus its open-source Qiskit software and developer tools. IBM will also provide Archer access to the IBM Quantum Computation Centre, which includes the most advanced quantum computers commercially available to explore practical end-user applications.

“We are at an early stage in terms of the work that needs to be done with IBM, so we are looking forward to our continued collaboration,” said Archer CEO Dr Mohammad Choucair.

“Archer is making crucial steps towards its goal of enabling practical quantum computing applications, and IBM is helping us get there.”

The company says after seeing what has been achieved in the quantum ecosystem to date, Archer is determined to actively engage and contribute to the global IBM Quantum Network.

Archer Materials is up 5.88 per cent, trading at 90 cents at 10:50 am AEST.
