Carnavale Resources (CAV) has begun phase three aircore drilling at the Kookynie Gold Project in Western Australia.

The Kookynie Project lies 60 kilometres south of Leonora and has been subject to limited exploration.

The first two phases of drilling, which consisted of 256 holes for 12,506 metres, identified multiple gold anomalies and structural features.

Phase two drilling significantly expanded the footprint of the gold anomalies.

This phase three drilling campaign will aim to infill areas of known anomalism at the McTavish East, Champion South and McTavish North mines.

Previous drilling at these mines has identified high-grade structurally controlled gold mineralisation under cover.

McTavish East spans a length of over 500 metres and mineralisation remains open to the northeast.

Previous results include two metres at 16.25g/t gold from 54 metres, two metres at 3.40g/t gold from 70 metres and two metres at 3.11g/t gold from 14 metres.

The McTavish North mine spans a length of over 160 metres and remains open to the north.

Past results include one metre at 4.54g/t gold from 31 metres, two metres at 3.43g/t gold from two metres and four metres at 3.24g/t gold from 14 metres.

Drilling is estimated to take three weeks to complete with first results expected at the end of June.

“The earlier aircore drilling produced some strong high-grade gold anomalies that warrant immediate follow-up,” Chairman Ron Gajewski said.

“We are targeting these high grade intercepts with infill and extensional aircore drilling that will provide definition to the gold mineralisation prior to RC drilling into the bedrock,” he added.

Shares in Carnavale are steady on the market and have been trading at 0.7 cents since May 3.
