Boab Metals (BML) has begun a phase five drilling program at the Sorby Hills Project in WA’s Kimberley region.

This round of diamond drilling will test targets identified in the fourth phase, infill and extend the zinc-rich Alpha and Beta silver deposits, and test lead mineralisation at the Wildcat target.

The fourth phase was completed earlier this year and included 58 holes. Results peaked at 4.69 per cent lead and 39g/t silver and led to a 56-per-cent increase in measured resources.

Overall, Boab aims to extend the lead-silver-zinc project’s mine life and increase the production capacity proposed in the Sorby Hills Definitive Feasibility Study.

Boab will drill at least 48 holes, for 4200 metres, but this may be extended to follow up on any significant intercepts that may arise.

The company will also conduct initial drilling at the Eight Mile Creek Project which lies immediately south of Sorby Hills.

“With our metallurgical and geotechnical drilling complete, a current mine plan underpinned 92 per cent by reserves and nearly $14 million in cash on hand, we are in a great position to aggressively focus drilling metres toward adding tonnes and grade to our Sorby Hills mining inventory and testing the blue-sky prospectivity of our Eight Mile Creek Project,” Managing Director and CEO Simon Noon said.

Phase five drilling is expected to be completed in early July with assays to follow.

Company shares are up 1.32 per cent and are trading at 38.5 cents at 10:53 am AEST.
