The board of 1414 Degrees (14D) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer to expand the company’s position in the clean energy market.

Matthew Squire comes with over 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas, power generation and broader energy sector, working for companies like Santos, Origin Energy and BG Group. He comes to 1414 Degrees from Beach Energy where he held the role of General Manager – Corporate Development and Strategy.

Mr Squire has previously been directly involved in some of the largest energy transactions in Australia, including holding commercial leadership of Beach Energy’s $1.5 billion acquisition of Lattice Energy.

The new CEO says there is a growing need for innovative energy storage solutions, which he believes the company is well placed to meet.

“1414 Degrees has a unique product combining energy storage with renewable generation at a time when the market is transitioning,” Mr Squire said.

1414 Degrees Chair Tony Sacre says Mr Squire’s appointment adds further strength to the company’s growth plans.

“He is highly experienced in growing shareholder value via sustainable profitable investments, with a proven track record of successful business development outcomes for some of Australia’s largest companies in our sector,” said Tony Sacre.

Matthew Squire will be based in Adelaide and will commence in his new role in August 2021.

1414 Degrees was up 5 per cent, trading at 10.5 cents at 1:15 pm AEST.
