Viking Mines (VKA) has sighted visible gold at its First Hit Project in Kalgoorlie, WA.

Visible gold was found in a roughly 20-centimetre quartz vein located around 165 metres north of the historical underground workings.

A review of the drill core identified a quartz vein 57.9 metres downhole, containing multiple pieces of visible gold.

Viking Mines Managing Director and CEO Julian Woodcock said it’s pleasing to have struck more visible gold.

“What is exciting is that we have seen gold in a quartz vein in one of the step-out holes located around 165 metres north of the historic underground workings and in a shallow position below surface,” Mr Woodcock said.

“This confirms that the structures hosting the First Hit mineralisation contain gold beyond the previously defined limits of mineralisation.”

As a result of this find, Viking Mines said it plans to continue with its assessments and logging of diamond core, using knowledge gained from the assays received to date to focus on the gold bearing zones.

Step-out holes will also be continually reviewed, focussing on defining potential new mineralised gold bearing shoots.

Viking Mines was up 11.1 per cent, trading at 2 cents at 11:20 am AEST.
