Apollo Minerals (AON) says the latest results from drilling at two prospects within the Kroussou zinc-lead project in Gabon, Central Africa, have confirmed mineralised extensions.

The phase one drilling program at the Dikaki and Bouambo prospects consisted of 46 diamond drill holes with results received from 37 drill holes so far.

The latest results come from 14 drill holes completed across the two prospects with drilling at the eastern and central zones of Dikaki testing the presence of mineralisation near historic exploration.

AON said the results demonstrate extensive high-grade zinc and lead mineralisation and the potential for a large-scale, shallow, flat-lying, broad mineralised system.

Moreover, the company said it has identified potential for the eastern and central Dikaki zones merging with significant, shallow intercepts.

Shallow results included 20.9 metres at 2.6 per cent zinc and lead from 32.4 metres, including 6.2 metres 5.3 per cent zinc and lead from 47.1 metres; and two metres at 5.3 per cent from 32.4 metres.

Apollo believes there is strong upside potential of the whole Dikaki system, which it said is confirmed by new drill holes which show significantly higher endowment when compared to the insufficiently sampled nearby historical drilling.

The drilling campaign has indicated the potential for a large and shallow channel of mineralisation averaging 420 metres in width and up to 6 kilometres in strike which Executive Director, Neil Inwood said could be amenable to simple low-cost open pit mining.

Moving forward, diamond drill rigs will return to Dikaki to test the central to eastern zone linkage while the company awaits assays from the results from the remaining 11 holes.

Apollo is continuing drilling at the newly discovered Niamabimbou Prospect which is situated approximately 10 kilometres to the south of Dikaki and is expecting assay results in the coming weeks.

Shares were trading 5.4 per cent lower at 8.8 cents at 4:10pm AEST.
