Corella Resources (CR9) has reported ‘exceptionally high’ average brightness results from its Tampu kaolin project in Western Australia.

Spectrophotometer brightness test work analysed sample intervals from selected holes drilled earlier this year.

The analysis confirmed an average ISO brightness of 85 per cent with a maximum result of 89 per cent.

According to Corella, the high brightness results help to validate the Tampa project as a world-class deposit with unique properties and a competitive advantage in the high-purity alumina (HPA) market.

Managing Director Tony Cormack said the company was extremely pleased with the results.

“To achieve an average brightness of 85 per cent is simply outstanding and it cements Tampu as Australia’s premier kaolin project,” he said.

“The superior quality of Tampu’s bright white high purity kaolin has the company well-placed to take advantage of the emerging high tech sector that’s expected to drive demand particularly in the high purity kaolin market.”

Tampu is known to have high purity kaolin with low levels of impurities which the company believes distinguishes it as a leading kaolin project. According to CR9, kaolin is viewed as a “white gold” new commodity that’s able to be processed into HPA or metakaolin.

Corella Resources plans to incorporate the brightness results into its data package to complete a maiden resource estimate for the Tampu project. This is expected to be released in the coming weeks.

CR9’s shares are trading two per cent lower at 4.9 cents at 12:28 AEDT.
