Eclipse Metals (EPM) has received an initial batch of samples from past diamond drill core samples taken from Ivittuut and Gronnedal-lka in Greenland.

The samples from both the Gronnedal-Ika carbonatite and Ivittuut cryolite mine precincts were submitted to a Perth-based laboratory for chemical and petrological analysis.

The historical drill core from the two areas was previously stored in a Greenland Government facility in Kangerlussuaq, around 320 kilometres north from the capital, Nuuk.

The company said an initial assessment of the core provided a greater understanding of quartz, cryolite and siderite mineralisation within the pit, along with a preliminary understanding of the Gronnedal-Ika carbonatite complex.

Eclipse also noted the initial evaluation of drill core samples provided significant information on the prospectivity of both the Ivittuut mine environ and the carbonatite occurrence and mafic dykes.

As a result of this, Eclipse’s onsite team has proposed to dispatch further surface samples from Gronneddal-Ika and the Ivittuut low-grade and tailing dumps to Australia for laboratory analysis for rare earth elements, cryolite and quartz.

Meanwhile, an additional surface sampling program has been conducted with samples expected to be despatched in November 2021.

Eclipse Metals shares are down 6.25 per cent, trading at 4.5 cents at 1:35 pm AEST.
