Triton Minerals (TON) is one step closer to constructing its Commercial Pilot Plant at the Ancuabe Graphite Project in Mozambique.

The ASX-lister has received the tick of approval from MCC International Incorporation to pursue the development of a small-scale production.

TON had previously signed an Engineering, Procurement and Construction deal with MCC back in 2018 for Ancuabe.

The two companies were planning to build a mineral processing facility and related infrastructure for the 60,000 tonnes per annum graphite project.

But, Triton recently decided to bring the flagship project into production in the near term, at a smaller scale and on a more commercially viable basis.

TON argues the small-scale approach will provide validation of the process for potential funding partners and to generate further interest from offtake partners.

The ASX-lister engaged CPC Project Design to assist with a review of the asset and then signed the business to construct the Commercial Pilot Plant.

Triton Executive Director Andrew Frazer said MCC was onboard with CPC constructing the smaller pilot plant design.

“I am glad to confirm that MCC, who are one of the world’s largest engineering and construction companies, are on-side with our renewed company strategy and support our plans to have CPC construct the Commercial Pilot Plant which will see production from the Ancuabe Graphite Project in the near term,” he said.

The company added that it will “endeavour to utilise MCC as preferred equipment supplier” in the near term before it eventually pursues a large-scale production at Ancuabe.

Company shares were trading up 2.44 per cent at 4.2 cents each at 1:35 pm AEDT.
