Norwest Energy (NWE) has returned to its Lockyer Deep 1 well in the Perth Basin, Western Australia in preparation for well testing.

Following an issue at the end of September which saw the company suspending product testing at the well, remedial cementing operations were undertaken.

The issue arose when cement was not hitting the annulus while casing was being run, due to a suspected wiper plug that was held up in the casing.

In December, NWE acquired a Cement Bond Log (CBL) and Vertical Seismic Profile and said the CBL confirms the remedial work has achieved a satisfactory cement job, in line with expectations.

With the test tree installed on the wellhead and perforating guns procured, the company plans to perforate the well in preparation for the well testing operation.

Operator Energy Resources hopes to begin operations by the end of February, however this is subject to securing the necessary personnel and equipment, which has been impacted by WA border controls.

Shares were trading grey at 2.6 cents at market open.
