Pursuit Minerals (PUR) has received assay results from a soil sampling program at its Combatant Project in Western Australia, roughly 270 kilometres northeast of Geraldton.
Sampling and reconnaissance identified three ultramafic units within the project, at Garden Well, Currie Currie Bore and Murrum Creek.
The Garden Well ultramafic has a strike length of approximately 1800 metres. Field mapping confirmed it consists of multiple units over 450 metres wide, intercalated with host gneiss — a metamorphic rock which typically consists of feldspar, quartz and mica.
The Currie Currie Bore ultramafic has a strike length of approximately 2900 metres and is thought to be between 350 and 700 metres wide. A field traverse confirms it lies within a package of mafic units and banded iron formations (BIFs).
The Murrum Creek ultramafic is an 800 by 700-metre body in flat country with no surface expression. Nickel, copper, gold, platinum and palladium assays are typical of background ultramafic levels, with no significant elevated results noted.
The results confirm the tenement package hosts ultramafic units, and aeromagnetic interpretation indicates that these are intrusive in nature.
Pursuit said it will plan additional field programs to effectively test each unit for potential Nickel-Copper-Platinum Group Element (PGE) mineralisation.
The company also plans to design an air core drilling program over magnetic features under cover within the Murchison River drainage, and will investigate the electromagnetic program for ultramafics to detect potential massive sulphides not exposed at surface.
Shares in Pursuit Minerals were up 11.54 per cent on Monday, closing at 2.9 cents each.
