Sunstone Metals (STM) has intersected mineralised gold-copper porphyry at its Alba discovery, which is part of its Bramaderos project in southern Ecuador.

The company said the 193.7-metre porphyry intersection graded 0.5 g/t gold and 0.16 per copper from 164 metres, which remains open at depth and along strike.

The mineralisation was intersected in the second hole drilled at the site, which was drilled below the company’s maiden drill hole.

The maiden drill hole previously returned assays of 111 metres at 2.3 g/t gold, including 7.2 metres at 26.88 g/t gold.

According to Sunstone, the results show the discovery comprises a gold zone sitting above a well mineralised gold-copper porphyry that remains open and largely untested.

The company said further follow-up drilling is underway, with assays pending for a further three drill holes.

Sunstone Managing Director Malcolm Norris said the latest results provided more firm evidence that Alba was emerging as a major discovery.

“These are some of the best porphyry gold-copper results we have seen in the broader Bramaderos Project. We are also seeing local visible gold within the porphyry system, which is extremely encouraging,” Mr Norris Said.

Shares were down 6.82 per cent trading at 10.3 cents at 10.58 am AEDT.
