Gold explorer Torque Metals (TOR) has unearthed a new discovery at the Paris Project in Kalgoorlie, dubbed the Caruso Prospect.

Nine reverse circulation holes for 798 metres were drilled at the Caruso Prospect, returning up to 3.47 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 9 metres.

The new prospect was in close proximity to historical drilling, which previously returned results including 2 metres at 11.89 g/t gold from 18 metres.

Torque Executive Chairman, Ian Finch said Torque Metals’ reverse circulation campaign has been highly successful.

“Caruso had received some encouraging historic drilling but these latest results place the discovery firmly on the company’s radar and will be the subject of considerable follow-up exploration,” he said.

“While it is early days at this new discovery…we have encountered a similar geological structure, so there is the potential for these two deposits to connect and further improve our gold resource inventory at Paris.”

Deeper drilling will begin within the coming weeks to test the potential for continuity of the Caruso Prospect at depth.

Further exploration work is also being planned to decipher the potential of the mineralised area.

Torque Metals was up 10 per cent, trading at 22 cents by the end of the trading day.
