Anova Metals (AWV) has confirmed a significant gold discovery at Crusher Zone South, part of the Big Springs project in the US state of Nevada.

The company drilled 15 reverse circulation (RC) holes for a total of 2,620 metres and intercepted mineralisation including 27.4 metres at 2.39 g/t gold from 21.3 metres. It has results from five holes at the Crusher Zone South so far with the rest expected later this month.

The findings represent the first new gold discovery at the project in 15 years which the company believes demonstrates the substantial prospectivity of its tenure package.

Exploration at the site includes using gravity to identify key areas as well as surface mapping and soil sampling to refine the targets.

Anova Metals Managing Director and CEO Dr Mingyan Wang said the company is encouraged by the results and intends to explore further targets.

“These excellent initial results have not only affirmed the substantial potential to rapidly grow resources at Big Springs, but also further enhanced our confidence in seeking to explore the other high priority targets identified from the comprehensive targeting study completed last year at Big Springs,” he said.

Following the company’s various exploration programs it has identified further targets at Mac Ridge North and Jacks Creek. The company intends to explore these targets later this year.

Shares were down 5.9 per cent trading at 1.6 cents at 1.46pm AEDT.
