American Rare Earths (ARR) has kicked off its maiden drilling program at its Halleck Creek project in the US state of Wyoming.

A nine-hole diamond core drilling campaign over 825 metres has been designed to follow up samples collected in 2018 and 2021 which showed high-grade rare earth element (REE) mineralisation.

The sample work completed across the Overton Mountain area in 2018 by previous explorers returned average Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO) values of 3,297 parts per million, average Heavy Rare Earth Oxide (HREO) values of 244 parts per million, and
average Magnetic Rare Earth Oxide (MREO) values of 816 parts per million.

More recently, samples taken last year indicated the Red Mountain Pluton is Light Rare Earth Oxide (LREO) dominant, with an average of 2,836 parts per million.

Results from additional geologic mapping performed across Overton Mountain in October last year are pending and the company says it is keen to see the samples to gain further insight and direction at the project.

The current campaign will comprise five holes at Overton Mountain and four holes at Red Mountain to provide initial mineralisation, lithology and fresh rock material for additional analysis.

American Rare Earths expects the program to be completed by the end of April with assay results expected in June.

Shares were trading 3.66 per cent higher at 42.5 cents at 12:03pm AEDT.
