Wildcat Resources (WC8) has identified a large lithium soil anomaly at its Bolt Cutter Project in the Mallina Province of Western Australia.

Assays from 508 reconnaissance soil samples collected in November identified a strong four-kilometre by two-kilometre anomaly that is supported by trace element signatures.

The aim of this soil sampling program was to collect data to assess the project for lithium and gold mineralisation.

The anomaly trends in a north-south direction, covers an area of eight square kilometres and occurs between the Pilgangoora and Wodgina faults.

It has a higher grade zone of more than 50 parts per million (ppm) lithium as well as anomalous aluminium, beryllium, gallium, rubidium and tin mineralisation.

Wildcat has now begun field mapping and rock-chip sampling at Bolt Cutter with infill soil sampling set to begin in early April.

“The work has identified a large, coherent lithium soil anomaly located between regionally important structures, along trend from the Pilgangoora and Wodgina lithium deposits,” CEO Samuel Ekins said.

“To identify an anomaly, from the first systematic sampling ever completed in the area, that is large enough to contain a target of a comparable scale as two significant lithium projects along trend is very promising.”

Shares in Wildcat were up 12.1 per cent and were trading at 3.7 cents at 12:37 pm AEDT.
