Castillo Copper’s (CCZ) recent diamond core assays have confirmed up to 24 metres of cobalt from The Sisters Prospect near Broken Hill in the far west of New South Wales.

Diamond core drilling results for drill hole BH1, located within the BHA Project’s East Zone, confirmed significant cobalt mineralisation.

Assay results from the drilling included 24 metres at 424 parts per million (ppm) cobalt from 103 metres, including two metres at 1,120 ppm cobalt from 107 metres.

Additionally, the company recorded one metre at 873 ppm cobalt from 120 metres, and two metres at 486 ppm cobalt from 125 metres.

As the prospect is located north-west from the defined target area, the company said this provides new evidence there is potentially a larger than anticipated cobalt system within the BHA Project’s East Zone.

“Having reviewed The Sisters Prospect’s assays, the board is now convinced the underlying cobalt system within the BHA Project’s East Zone could extend beyond the defined target area,” Managing Director, Dr Dennis Jensen said.

“Whilst this will be the subject of future exploration campaigns, the geology team are aiming to complete the primary cobalt MRE shortly.”

With the block model nearing completion, Castillo said it’s geology team will now target finalisation of the global mineral resource estimate, which will encompass the Fence Gossan, Reef and Tors Tank, Ziggy’s Hill, and now The Sisters Prospect.

Castillo Copper last traded at 1.9 cents on May 4.
