Saturn Metals (STN) has unearthed a zone of gold bearing mineralisation at the Hercules Prospect in the Western Australian goldfields.

The prospect falls within Saturn Metals’ broader Apollo Hill land holdings, 15 kilometres to the south of the company’s 1.47 million ounce Apollo Hill mineral resource.

The recent phase of aircore drilling over one kilometre strike intersected several zones of quartz veining and shearing in bed rock, with strong sulphides that were said to indicate excellent prospectivity for economic mineralisation.

The program returned assay results including 20 metres at 2.27 grams of gold per tonne (g/t) from 24 metres, which included eight metres at 5.17g/t gold from 24 metres.

Managing Director Ian Bamborough said the strategy of exploring for new mineralisation opportunities within the larger Apollo Hill land package has been bearing some great results.

“The large gold footprint and localised higher-grade intersections at Hercules show the potential of this new mineralised system,” he said.

“Its location on the interpreted Keith Kilkenny structure is favourable, and we are seeing some excellent geological ingredients in our drilling.”

With numerous infill and extension aircore assays still pending, the company said the full picture is yet to be revealed.

Saturn Metals was up 2.63 per cent, trading at 37 cents at 3:30 pm AEST.
