Anson Resources (ASN) has reached its target depth in an expansion drilling program at its Paradox lithium project in Utah, USA.

The company’s drilling work reached a total depth of 2334 metres at the Long Canyon No. 2 well, meaning drilling into the Mississippian Units can now begin.

Through its drilling program, Anson is targeting the large Mississippian supersaturated brine aquifer in the unit with the aim of converting the exploration target into an indicated and inferred resource.

The planned JORC resource upgrade will then go on to support a detailed feasibility study and the development of the Paradox lithium project into a substantial lithium and bromine producing operation.

Additionally, the company said the previously sampled Clastic Zone 31 horizon had been sealed, and the cast iron plugs of the abandoned well have now been drilled out to collect brine samples for testing for lithium.

The drilling of the Mississippian Units is anticipated to be finalised next month. The work program will include the collection of diamond core drill chips to estimate porosity, specific yield and permeability for the JORC resource upgrade.

Anson Resources last traded at 11.5 cents on May 20.
