Galan Lithium (GLN) has commenced a long-term pumping test program at its Hombre Muerto lithium project in Argentina.

The company plans to gather hydraulic and chemical data from the program to support a definitive feasibility study (DFS) for the project. Galan said the planned DFS was still on track for completion by the end of the year.

The pumping test work will consist of four platforms: two at each of the Pata Pila and Rana de Sal zones. Of these, one platform in each area has already been completed, with the other under construction or to be constructed soon.

Each platform will have one pumping well and up to three nearby monitoring wells.

The main objectives of the program are to determine the hydraulic properties of the brine reservoir for each aquifer unit, confirm the maximum pumping rate for each well, and register the hydraulic, chemical and physical parameters of the brine in each test.

The pump test work and analysis are expected to be complete by the end of September.

Shares in Galan Lithium were trading 0.98 per cent higher at $1.55 at 1:00 pm AEST.
