Altech Chemicals (ATC) has announced further patent fillings to protect its intellectual property for its Silumina Anodes battery materials technology and alumina coating process.

Earlier this year, the battery metals tech company filed an international patent application that preserves the right to file national applications in up to 156 countries.

National patent applications have also been filed in the US, Europe, China, Japan and Korea. All of these applications claim priority from the Australian provisional patent application filed on May 13.

The patent applications protect Altech’s process for covering anode materials, which includes silicon and graphite with nano-layer alumina coatings. These coatings can reduce lithium loss during each battery charge and discharge cycle.

In May, the company pocketed over $2.1 million after two major shareholders converted 26.5 million listed options.

Deutsche Balaton, converted 15 million options at eight cents each for $1.2 million, and Delphi Unternehmensberatung converted 11.5 million for $921,000.

ATC shares closed in the grey at seven cents each.
