International Graphite (IG6) has begun drilling at its Springdale tenements on the south coast of Western Australia.
The aim of this drilling is to explore new graphite targets as well as expand and upgrade the existing inferred resource to the indicated category.
This is the first on-ground work since IG6 acquired the tenements in April and builds on previous work by Comet Resources (CRL).
A total of 54 reverse circulation (RC) holes, for 3300 metres, and 12 diamond holes, for 900 metres, will be drilled across the Western and Eastern zones to improve the confidence of the resource and provide additional samples for ongoing metallurgical testwork.
Additionally, 37 RC holes will be drilled to further explore the Western and Eastern zones. Subject to customary approvals, a similar program is expected to be undertaken on the Northern Zone.
“Springdale is a vital asset that closes the loop on our plans to establish a new battery graphite supply chain in Western Australia,” Executive Chairman Phil Hearse said.
“As a source of high-grade graphite feedstock, Springdale will be key to our ability to produce battery anode graphite to help meet growing demand in Australia and global markets.
“In the short term, samples from Springdale will be used to advance metallurgical testwork and to refine the flowsheet for production of battery anode material at Collie.”
IG6 has ended the day 3.23 per cent in the green with shares trading at 32 cents.
