  • Anson Resources (ASN) increases flow rates by up to 165 per cent at its Paradox lithium project in Utah, US
  • The increase comes as part of a resource expansion drilling program in the area, which delivered a 147 per cent increase on the original flow rate at the Can Creek 32-1

Anson Resources (ASN) has increased flow rates by up to 165 per cent at its Paradox lithium project in Utah, US.

The increase comes from a current resource expansion drilling program focused on the Mississippian units at the Cane Creek 32-1 well.

On the re-entry at Can Creek 32-1, the company recorded flow rates of 66 barrels per hour, which is an increase of 147 per cent on the original flow rate at this target.

Meanwhile, the Long Canyon No. 2 well saw a 165 per cent increase in its flow rate.

These results show that salts that have previously precipitated are breaking down over time due to the influx of brine.

Anson said a key positive outcome of the improved flow rates was that it now anticipated the wells would push the brine to the surface without the need for pumping. This could deliver benefits to the economics of extraction and the longevity of Anson’s proposed lithium-producing operation at Paradox.

“The wells Anson has re-entered in its current drilling program have delivered artesian flow (ie; natural flow without the need for pumping) from the Clastic Zone 31 horizon due to the constant higher pressures and the porosities of this clastic zone,” the company said.

Shares in Anson Resources were up 1.82 per cent to 11 cents per share at 10:51 am AEST.
