Catalyst Metals (CYL) has hit assays of up to 56 grams per tonne (g/t) gold at the Cradle Zone within its Henty gold mine in Tasmania.

The company received results from an initial drilling campaign at the shallow Cradle Zone, revealing the presence of high-grade mineralisation.

Recent results from the program included 4.6 metres at 56.7 g/t gold and 220 g/t silver, and 2.1 metres at 28.5 g/t gold and 113.9 g/t silver.

The assays showed gold and silver mineralisation extends roughly 500 metres south. Two parallel zones of gold mineralisation were unearthed, with the hanging wall zone hosted by a massive sulphide band containing elevated silver.

The one-kilometre by 400-metre area has been subject to very little previous exploration due to difficulties accessing it. However, Catalyst’s infrastructure development enabled the area to be drilled from underground for the first time.

“These strong results show that the Cradle Zone, which represents a previously under-explored area at Henty, has significant potential to increase the mining inventory at Henty,” Catalyst Technical Director Bruce Kay said.

“We will now plan follow-up drilling with a view to establishing a resource in this area.”

Catalyst Metals shares were trading flat at $1.23 at 12:41 pm AEST.
