Gladiator Resources (GLA) has completed initial mapping and sampling at its Eland Hill uranium prospect at the Eland project in southern Tanzania.

The focus of the initial exploration was systematic rock sampling and scintillometer counts per second (cps) data collection across anomalous radiometric zones.

The company said all four targets showed multiple, elevated radiometric anomalies of more than 1500 cps with the maximum radiometric anomaly recorded at approximately 9000 cps.

“We have confirmed extensive areas with five to 10 times background radiation at all four targets, together with specific readings over 30 times background, which gives us increased confidence in Eland’s uranium potential,” Managing Director David Chidlow said.

“We look forward to receiving the assays as soon as possible, which may well allow us to define drill targets at Eland for post wet season testing.”

The company is currently preparing around 120 samples for lab assays.

Nearby pegmatite workings have also been sampled, which will be assayed for selected elements including tungsten, lithium and tantalum.

The company said the assays should provide an indication of uranium grade and surface dimensions of potentially mineralised zones.

Samples will soon be submitted to the lab with assays due in December and Gladiator anticipates the potential to develop future drill targets at the project.

At market close, shares in Gladiator traded at 1.6 cents.
