Alice Queen has announced its Joint Venture project, Horn Island, with St Barbara has commenced its maiden works program.

Planning has now been completed for the first two JV work programs which are focused on finding intrusion related gold system (IRGS) targets.

The Horn Island Project is located on the north of Cape York Peninsula in Torres Strait.

The companies have commenced the first works programs within two months since entering the JV.

Alice Queens Managing Director Andrew Buxton is pleased with the progress so far.

“On the back of an extensive body of work, carried out by Alice Queen over the previous three years, this maiden program signals a significant shift in terms of exploration focus at Horn Island, under the JV at Horn Island, with exploration targeting potential large scale IRGS gold deposits,” he said.

A soil infill program is now underway to provide additional data for further metal zonation studies and target generalisation.

The soils survey grid includes a 200m spaced north east orientated lines with sample intervals at 50m.

Previous field mapping and surface chip sampling have identified several high-grade gold veins, with some occurring in clusters within the soil sampling zone.

Alice Queens is a copper and gold exploration and developing company with projects in Torres Strait and New South Wales.

Alice Queen has gained 7.69 per cent and is currently selling at 1.4¢ per share while St Barbara has dropped 2.18 per cent and is selling at $3.59 per share.
