Atlantic Lithium (A11) has awarded its front-end engineering design contract for the Ewoyaa lithium project in Ghana to Primero, a vertically-integrated engineering group.

Primero will provide its services for a number of tasks including optimising the project’s flow sheet, identifying long lead items and maximising the project’s long-term profitability.

Ultimately, Primero will support the advancement of the project towards becoming a financially and operationally robust lithium-producing mine.

The contract is valued at US$980,000 (A$1.45 million) and will be paid via a three-stage earn-in agreement with Piedmont Lithium to fund the project towards production.

Concurrently, Atlantic Lithium has appointed experienced mining professional Roux Terblanche as Project Manager effective immediately.

Mr Terblanche has over 25 years of experience across domestic and international mining sectors and was part of the team that delivered the pre-feasibility study for the Ewoyaa project.

Atlantic Lithium Executive Chair Neil Herbert said the contract award is the next significant step towards becoming a lithium producer.

“The award of the contract to Primero and Roux’s appointment as project manager demonstrate the significant steps we are taking to advance the project towards production,” Mr Herbert said.

“Following the recent completion of the drilling program at the project, we look forward to announcing an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE) in the coming months, which will put us in good stead to announce the definitive feasibility study (DFS) in mid-2023.”

The MRE is expected to be announced in Q1 2023, which will then be used to support the planned DFS, expected to be completed by mid-2023.

Shares in Atlantic Lithium were down 2.92 per cent, trading at 66.5 cents at 1:50 pm AEDT.
