Unith (UNT) has signed a binding heads of agreement with Japanese artificial intelligence (AI) company NVISO to develop digital avatars.
Together, the parties will integrate behavioural analytics into digital humans in conversational settings to be deployed in digital kiosks in Japan.
This agreement with UNT will give NVISO access to Unith’s Talking Head platform to scale the implementation of enhanced human-like interactions in various target products. NVISO provides AI solutions that can sense, comprehend and act upon human behaviour using emotion analytics.
The first two phases of the agreement cover the generation of the avatar to then be marketed as a packaged solution to certain target markets in Japan.
Following this, NVISO is expected to develop and market solutions for a broader range of global markets.
Upon commercialisation of the interactive digital humans in Japan, the parties will proceed under a 50/50 profit-sharing agreement.
However, details on pricing and licencing arrangements are yet to be finalised.
Unith CEO Idan Schmorak said the company was excited to be partnering with NVISO.
“The Japanese market is well established for automation through computer-to-human interactions with digital characters, and NVISO’s presence and expertise in Japan bring significant added value to the partnership.
Mr Schmorak said delivering an AI solution that could know how a human is feeling, understand attentiveness and facilitate an outcome accordingly was consistent with Unith’s distribution strategy to scale the reach of its technology.
The collaboration will be assisted by the BonsAPPs program, which will accelerate development work by providing a €74,000 (approx. $A117,000) grant to the project.
BonsAPPs allows users to develop AI solutions to solve real-world industry challenges that require a number of AI artefacts and services produced by different stakeholders.
UNT shares were up 17.39 per cent trading at 2.7 cents at 2:49 pm AEDT.
