Red Mountain Mining (RMX) has completed initial fieldwork at its Charlotte lithium project in the Northern Territory.

The company launched an initial field investigation on the area, which lies less than 100 kilometres by road from Darwin, within the Bynoe pegmatite field.

RMX’s field mapping delineated several out-cropping to sub-cropping occurrences of pegmatite.

The pegmatites were generally confined to the ridges within the tenement and trended north-northwest. The mineralogy of the outcrops was dominated by coarse crystalline quartz, with minor to moderate accessory minerals.

The company mapped 30 metres of strike length on one outcrop, while others were seen to trail off down slope from ridges.

Red Mountain’s interpretation of the outcrops defined two to three pegmatite trends currently mapped within the tenement, plus the possibility for further occurrences in the yet unexplored eastern half of the tenement.

All prospects within the mapped area occur in the western third of the tenement, as access to the central and eastern regions of the tenement was been restricted by the current wet season. The company still considers these areas prospective for exploration, and it will investigate the zones during the dry season.

A follow-up program is expected to begin in May once the wet season passes.

Red Mountain Mining shares were up 14.3 per cent and trading at 0.4 cents at 10:34 am AEDT.
