The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation of Western Australia (EPA Services) has completed its review on Reward Minerals’ submission for Lake Disappointment.

The EPA division has said Lake Disappointment is able to prepare its draft assessment report for the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).

This follows a period of consultation between Reward and the EPA Services
Division after the end of the public review period and the recent site visit on August 1.

Reward’s response to comments received from members of the public and regulatory agencies during the six week exhibition of its Environmental Review Document (ERD) will soon be published on the EPA website.

Whilst the EPA’s advice does not say that Lake Disappointment has been assessed to be environmentally acceptable, Reward believes that this is a significant and positive step forward.

The Lake Disappointment Project is located in the Little Sandy Desert, Western Australia, approximately 320 kilometres east of Newman.

The Project is made up of over 5000 square kilometres of granted tenements.

Reward Minerals is an Australian company focussed on the exploration and development of potash resources manageable to the production of potassium sulfate.

CEO Greg Cochran is pleased to have received this notification and says it gives a positive step forward in the public permitting process.

“Once again I wish to acknowledge the efforts of the regulators within EPA Services as well as Reward’s team of employees and its group of highly experienced environmental consultants who have enabled the Company to get to this juncture,” he said.

“They have put in an enormous effort over the last four years.”
